The clock is ticking. In May 2018, Europe’s data protection rules will be revamped to reflect modern risks and needs: The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into play in the near future, but organisations which will be directly affected still don't know how to approach the new regulation, a study by Dell shows.

What does GDPR mean and how will it affect your business?

The basic objective of the GDPR is to enforce stronger data security and privacy rules among organisations when it comes to protecting personal data. It represents a significant change in global privacy and it does not only impact companies in Europe but also any organisation that does business with Europe. The GDPR imposes new rules on organisations that offer goods and services to people in the European Union (EU), or that collect and analyze data tied to EU residents, no matter where they are located! This means for businesses amongst others the obligation to raise their employees’ awareness for dealing with potential cyberattacks and protecting sensitive data.
